Old Iron Calf Weaning Nose Ring with Cotter Pin

Vintage, possibly antique, iron calf nose ring, weaning tool with cotter pin

Used in the past to wean calves.
Farm hands would remove the cotter pin to open the nose ring and place in the calf's nostrils. Then insert the pin to secure the nose ring. The front will fall over the calf's mouth area preventing the calf from suckling its mother.
